Yes to Buffalo.. No to Bangalore..

We have been hearing many news from USA since Barack Obama has taken the oath as President. However, the news that mattered most to the Indians is the news "Yes to Buffalo.. No to Bangalore"..

Let us understand what does it mean and how it is going to impact the Indian IT industry..

1. Earlier, the American companies (e.g. IBM, Intel etc) used to get a lot of tax incentives by opening offices at off-shore (e.g. Bangalore). So, a lot of American companies were encouraged to open offices at off-shore.
2. However, president Obama has put an end to these kind of tax benefits to the American companies those have offices at off-shore. Instead, the companies having offices in USA, will enjoy the tax incentive now. This means, the companies that are creating jobs in USA will get tax incentives.
3. Hence, this is a big set back for the American companies those have offices at off-shore.
4. There should not be much impact on the Indian companies (e.g Infosys, Wipro, TCS etc) as the Indian companies were not getting any tax benefit from USA.
5. Since the American companies are now discouraged to open offices at off-shore, it means more work will be out sourced to Indian IT companies. Because American companies will not make much profit by doing that work in USA (though they'll get tax incentive). Also the availability of skilled loborors will be a challenge for the American companies.
6. So, we may observe some job losses from American companies at off-shore. However, at the same time we can expect more work being out sourced to the Indian companies.

PS: The Obama administration has restricted the hiring of H-1B visa-holders by companies bailed out by the Federal government. The restriction on deployment of trained people at client locations could require the Indian companies to seek local talent. In such a case, the local resources may only be available at higher wages. This news is little bit disturbing from Indian IT company point of view.

I am a bit confused about this statement :- " American companies are now discouraged to open offices at off-shore, it means more work will be out sourced to Indian IT companies."Is it not outsourcing ???
And if that is the case, then I feel its a matter of days when new laws might be catapulted to stop this even...
Just have to wait and watch whether people say OH MAA..OH MAA or Hail Obama...

I do agree with SAM. I do ponder why Obama took this initiative. How much beneficial it will be for the Americans if it's only the Tax.

But it's true that without outsourcing no can survive. Because there are lots of support work which requires 24*7 support whether it's a bank or ITsector.
And further a business man will alwyz look for a profit not for charity..
Let's hope that it doesn't impact Indian economy.

UHAULing.... in US...

In this blog let me share my experience of shifting home in America... You have to do the following activities for shifting your home... 1) Buy the card board boxes and pack your stuffs on your own... 2) Rent a truck to shift your stuff from one place to other and you have to drive that truck on your own. That truck is provided by a company called UHAUL. 3) Place all your stuffs inside the truck on your own. So, you have to carry your sofa, bed etc on your own. Therefore, you have to be a body builder to do all these activities. Remember, here there is no human labour to help you out. If you are hiring human labour then be ready to pay a hefty amount. 4) OK... All the stuffs are now packed and placed inside the truck. Now drive the truck on your own. 5) Reach the destination. 6) Unload all the stuffs.... Again on your own... 7) Return the truck to UHAUL (company) and pay the rental... 8) Your shifting is done... Cool..... That's how you have to live in USA. So, life is very easy he...

A way to give back...

Giving back to the society??? This sentence sounds a bit odd.. Yes, because we always believe in taking from the society... and we have taken it for granted that we'll always take from the society... Since our arrival to this beautiful world, we have taken almost everything from the society... It may be good education, good job or a safe and healthy society... and we assume that building a good society is the responsibility of Govt... Yes, you are right.. however, our country is a developing country.. not a developed country... Govt is doing its work at its pace... and since our country is one of the most populous country in the world, a lot of unprivileged people are there in the society.. unfortunately they are deprived from everything... they also don't get their basic school education... That's why the role of privileged people become very vital... Under current scenario, all the privileged people should raise their hand to support the unprivileged people.. We may argue...

Work from home..

I've a very strong feeling that the usage of modern technology will take India to the next level. The sooner we implement, the better for country.. These days Work From Home culture is a reality. In India, some MNCs and Indian IT companies have adopted this culture. However, majority of the chunk have not yet adopted. Let us understand how the 'WORK FROM HOME' culture can be implemented in all the iT companies: 1. Work: People can work through VPN connection using office laptop. 2. Meeting: By using dedicated bridge, all employees can attend meetings through phone. 3. Presentation: Many softwares are available e.g. 'Windows Meeting Space' can be used for any kind of online demonstration. 4. Video conference: SKYPE can be used for video conference. Advantages: a) There will be less traffic on road b) Less cubicles are required in office space c) People will save money from fuel expenditure and many more.. Disadvantages: a) Initial infrastructure cost e.g. providing l...
