A Family Road Trip from Bengaluru to Kolli Hills: A Serene Escape

On the bright morning of May 18th, 2024 at 7 am, we set off from Bengaluru, eagerly anticipating our family road trip to the serene Kolli Hills in Tamil Nadu. The journey was filled with excitement and curiosity, as we were headed to a place known for its natural beauty and tranquility, yet less commercialized and hyped compared to other hill stations.

The Journey: Navigating Through Road Diversions

Our drive took us through the evolving roads from Bengaluru to Tamil Nadu, marked by numerous diversions due to ongoing road construction. Despite these interruptions, the journey was smooth, offering us glimpses of the changing landscapes as we moved away from the city’s hustle and bustle towards the quietude of the hills.

Arrival and Stay at Kolli Hills

We crossed 70 hair pin bents to reach Kolli Hills. Reaching Kolli Hills was like entering a different world. The air was fresh, the surroundings lush, and the environment blissfully peaceful. We checked into a cozy resort nestled in the hills, where we were warmly welcomed. The accommodation was comfortable, and the highlight was the food – a delightful array of local dishes that were not only delicious but also reasonably priced.

Exploring the Beauty of Kolli Hills

Our short stay in Kolli Hills was packed with memorable experiences. One of the highlights was visiting the Lord Shiva temple, an ancient and revered site that added a spiritual touch to our trip. The temple’s serene atmosphere and intricate architecture left us in awe.

We also took the time to explore various viewpoints scattered around the hills. Each viewpoint offered a unique perspective of the lush green valleys, mist-covered peaks, and winding roads that snake through the hills. The panoramic views were breathtaking and provided perfect opportunities for photography and simply soaking in the natural beauty.

Culinary Delights

The resort where we stayed treated us to some fantastic food. The meals were a mix of traditional Tamil Nadu cuisine and popular dishes, all prepared with a homely touch. We relished every meal, appreciating the quality and the affordability.

Returning Home

On May 19th at 9 pm, we arrived back in Bengaluru, our hearts filled with cherished memories of a wonderful trip. The short yet fulfilling getaway to Kolli Hills offered us a perfect escape from the routine, allowing us to reconnect with nature and experience the charm of a less commercialized hill station.

Conclusion

Our family road trip to Kolli Hills was a refreshing and delightful experience. The scenic beauty, the spiritual visit to the Lord Shiva temple, the delectable food, and the serene environment made it a perfect getaway. Despite the minor inconvenience of road diversions, the journey was worth every moment.
