UHAULing.... in US...

In this blog let me share my experience of shifting home in America...

You have to do the following activities for shifting your home...
1) Buy the card board boxes and pack your stuffs on your own...
2) Rent a truck to shift your stuff from one place to other and you have to drive that truck on your own. That truck is provided by a company called UHAUL.
3) Place all your stuffs inside the truck on your own. So, you have to carry your sofa, bed etc on your own. Therefore, you have to be a body builder to do all these activities. Remember, here there is no human labour to help you out. If you are hiring human labour then be ready to pay a hefty amount.
4) OK... All the stuffs are now packed and placed inside the truck. Now drive the truck on your own.
5) Reach the destination.
6) Unload all the stuffs.... Again on your own...
7) Return the truck to UHAUL (company) and pay the rental...
8) Your shifting is done...

Cool..... That's how you have to live in USA. So, life is very easy here... Is not it???

Hence, if you have not got this UHAULing experience, better experience it.. You'll love it...
Have a nice weekend !!!

Thanks,

Nice blog..but I dont agree with it.Not all people do this activities on there own. Many people hire a shifting company that will give labour and everything else to transfer the things. They charge a modest 250$ if it is within the town.

$250 mite not be modest to many of us!!!

I totally agree with the blog...this is a place where human value is appreciated the most, when u see from outside, but NOT really!!!

Even I also think the same... spending $250.. is a little high...
I don't know what happens to us when we land in US.. suddenly we change our mode to "Saving" mode.. We want to save as much as possible...

Ha ha ha...humm..looks like u had a nice experience..

But one thing I appreciate about the life style of Americans..not only
Americans but the western people is; it teaches you to become self
dependant... You learn everything...And this life style keeps you fit
n fine..and helps you to gain more knowledge...

Your shifting can be taken in other way round... You bought the card
board and you saved money; as you could estimate how many card board
you need for your stuffs and didn't spend unnecessarily...
You packed the stuffs of your own and saved the precious stuff from
breakage. And also the search time as you know where you have packed
what..
You loaded and unloaded the stuffs also drove the truck of your own;
it means you saved a lot of time by not waiting unnecessarily for the
people to do this job..

Now see by doing this job of your own you saved money, time and your
precious stuffs :)

Yeah I understand it's very tough as I've also gone thru this phase
but at the end of the day u will be happy that u did it all alone and
didn't depend on others...

President Obama.. the hope..

Today (Jan 20, 2009) Barack "the hope" Obama took oath as the 44th president of USA. Well, it's a memorable day in US history. It's a very special day for the Americans as well as the rest of world.. The dream of Martin Luther King Jr. (Speech: I've a dream..) has become a reality today.. It's incredible to see how a common man can move the entire nation with great hope.. I'm very fortunate to be in US during this period to catch all these actions... Today the entire world witnessed the meaning of a great democracy.. Everyone was amazed to see the smooth transitioning of power with great respect for each other.. Also it was great to see that Ms. Mitchelle Obama presenting a gift to Ms. Laura Bush in the farewell ceremony.. And at the end it was thrilling to watch the inaugural ball (ball dance) of Barack and Mitchelle Obama.. It's a great tradition.. After following the entire day (US Presidential inauguration), I must say we have a lot to learn from A...

Google... the inspiration...

"Sergey Brin"... sounds familiar??? "Larry Page"... sounds even more familiar???.. Yes, you have guessed it right... I'm talking about Google.. I can say it as the most influential company of modern era... The company has coined a new english word "google" to the english dictionary.. You can say "google" is the synonym of "search".Almost all netizens use google on everyday basis... At the age of 35, the cofounders (Sergey and Larry) are billionaires.. Have you ever thought how the company generates money?? No company can make this huge amount of money in such a short span of time by simply selling a product... When they started the company back in 1998, they had only one product with them i.e google web site... They knew that their product is solid and robust... So, they came up with a new idea for their revenue model... called "sponsored link".. Let me take this opportunity to say something about "sponsored link...

Chase your passion...

Do you have some passion that you always wanted to do since your childhood??? Yes, I know we all have.. but we don't dare to chase it.. Because in India, we think only doctors and engineers are well respected in the society.. Hence, at any cost we have to become either a doctor or an engineer... Therefore, if you want to become a sports person or a singer or a dancer or a writer etc.. it's not allowed.. So, you sacrifice your area of interest and succumb to the pressure from society and put all your effort to become what your society want you to become.. Ok.. Now you have lived all most half of your life.. and somewhat successful (in career) by seeing your current stature..Your half of the life has gone by... in fulfilling other's wishes and their dreams.. Suddenly you realize that you have never lived for yourself.. I think this is the best time to invest on yourself... to chase your own passion.. to do something that you always wanted to do... I know we all are living a r...
