3 things... I learnt from America...

In this blog, let me share 3 things that I learnt from America..

1. Transparent election process

Please find out how it works in US:

i) There are only two parties, namely, the Democratic party and the Republican party
ii) Each party projects its presidential candidates and within the party whoever wins, he/she will contest for the presidential election with the opponent party's presidential candidate.. e.g Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, both are from Democratic party... Obama defeated Hillary to contest with McCain, who is from the Republican party.
iii) Clear cut election agenda like foreign policy, health care plan, education plan etc... and it is publicly discussed via media..
iv) The presidential debates -- This is the best thing happening in US election..The presidential candidates have to go through 3 rounds of debates and it is telecasted live in TV.These debates go for 1 and half hour and they have to answer all the questions from moderator..
v) The presidential candidates really respect each other..

2. Roads in America

i) The road is divided into lanes and the rules of the road are followed very strictly..
ii) The EXIT concept on highways..
iii) Controlling the traffic through sign boards.. so there are no traffic police on road.. and heavy fine is levied for any traffic rule violation..
iv) Each street has a name.. so every place has an address and because of this its very easy to use GPS and maps..

3. Automation in daily life

i) Paying bills through phone without the assistance of operator.. the voice you will hear from phone are machine voice... (In India, these days we are paying a lot of bills through internet.. but phone is more prevalent than computer and everyone knows how to use a phone...)
ii) Filling petrol in your vehicle without anybody's assistance..

(Yes, I can understand that by doing a lot of automation, we may have to face some job cuts... this is the flip side of automation)

I think this is enough... Given a chance, definitely I would like to implement all these activities in India...

Thanks,

Srimaya Rath

Rameswaram Trip - Har Har Mahadev! Trip Date: Nov 5th and 6th 2022 Distance from Bangalore: 611 km Time taken by road: 11 hrs Road: NH 44 and NH 87 - Road condition - Excellent Rameswaram is a town on Pamban Island, in the southeast Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It’s known for Shri Ramanathaswamy Temple, a Hindu pilgrimage site with ornate corridors, huge sculpted pillars and sacred water tanks. Devotees bathe in the waters of Agni Theertham, off the beach east of the temple.  Lord Ram and Maa Sita had consecrated the Jyotirling at Rameswaram after killing Ravan while returning back from Lanka. 22 Kund Snanam or Theerth Snanam: 22 Kund Snanam starts with Samudra Snanam at Agni Theertham . It is believed that the first kund/theertham lies submerged under the sea and hence the snanam ritual starts from taking a dip at  Agni Theertham . Agni Theertham is just walking distance away from the main temple. After the Samudra Snanam it was time for the 22 Kund Snanam. And all t...
